At your home in Raeford, NC, there should never be water collecting on the floor near your furnace. Furnaces naturally create condensation, and if there are no problems, then that condensed water flows through various pipes or hoses into a drain or outdoors. Read on to learn about different reasons that water may appear on the floor near your furnace.
Drain/Hose Pipe Clogs
One of the most common reasons water leaks out of the furnace is when suspended particles in the condensation collect in the drain pipe. The resulting block causes the water to flow backward. One of the other things our professional technicians will check while repairing your furnace is if the drain pipe is in good alignment so that the unblocked water flows freely.
Cracked Inducer Assembly
The inducer usually starts up about a minute before the furnace itself does. It empties waste gas and then continues blowing oxygen into the heating system to help it perform more efficiently.
Generally, the condensation flows through the assembly into the drain hose or pipe. If there’s a crack, then the condensation will leak out of the assembly.
Faulty Humidifier
Not every furnace has a humidifier, but if yours does, and something’s wrong with it, then it can leak water onto the floor. Our professional technicians will let you know whether your furnace has a humidifier. They’ll also be able to determine if the humidifier is causing the leak.
